Beaumont Doctor Sentenced For Improperly Touching Two Girls

A Houston judge is sentencing a Beaumont cardiologist on charges he molested two girls, and although Dr. Jeffrey Klem will not receive jail time, the doctor will be placed on probation and must write a letter of apology to the girls.

Dr. Klem is receiving five years deferred adjudication on each charge of Injury to a Child. Under the terms of a plea agreement, he will not have to register as a sex offender.

The Harris County District Attorney’s office dropped two charges of Indecency against Klem and replaced them with the two Injury to a Child charges as part of the plea agreement.

Dr. Klem is accused of improperly touching two girls in Houston in 2001.

Klem was charged with three counts of child indecency in Jefferson County but in 2007 pleaded guilty to child injury charges.

Klem received ten years probation, six months in jail and a $6,000 fine.

Tina McDaniel says Dr. Klem stole her daughter’s innocence when she was 11 years old.

Now her 18 year old daughter is in college and trying to move on with her life.

McDaniel says mediation for the civil suit will take place on March 30, the same day the Texas Medical Board will consider revoking Dr. Klem’s license.
