Texas Attorney Explains How Hysterectomy Can Lead to Cancer Spread

Many product liability lawsuits being filed against the manufacturers of power morcellators. The injured women claim that patients and doctors should have been warned about the risks associated with use of the medical devices during minimally invasive, laparoscopic hysterectomies.

What Are Power Morcellators?

Power morcellators are medical devices that are used during laparoscopic hysterectomy and myomectomy procedures. The device allows the surgeon to grind up the uterus or uterine fibroids and remove the tissue through a small incision in the abdomen. The medical device is used during minimally invasive surgery, and reduces recovery time, scarring and speeds up recovery time.

Xarelto Bleeding Death Attorney Shares Latest Lawsuit

As a Dallas Xarelto Bleeding Death attorney and Texas medical doctor, I would like to update my readers about the ongoing status of the Xarelto litigation. Most recently, a wrongful death lawsuit was filed against the makers of Xarelto; Bayer Healthcare and Johnson and Johnson’s subsidiary, Janssen.

Danny Julien recently filed a claim in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, on behalf of his father, Tommy Julien, who died as a result of uncontrollable bleeding.

According to the personal injury and death lawsuit, Julien suffered from atrial fibrillation and used Xarelto to prevent strokes from the atrial fibrillation. Julien developed severe internal bleeding while on Xarelto, which eventually led to his death.

J&J Ethicon Hammered in Vaginal Mesh $5.7M Verdict

Johnson and Johnson (J&J) the world’s largest pharmaceutical and medical device maker is hammered in another loss in the on going transvaginal mesh wars.

In the latest of a series of trials held in state and federal court, the jury has awarded $5.7 million verdict against J&J and its Ethicon subsidiary, over Ethicon’s Gynecare TVT Abbrevo device.

J&J Risperdal Gynecomastia Verdicts

Johnson & Johnson, (J&J) the world’s largest pharmaceutical and medical device maker recently received a one, two punch over its antipsychotic blockbuster drug, Risperdal.

The drug manufacturer lost the first trial in state court in Philadelphia over allegations that Risperdal causes gynecomastia or abnormal breast growth in boys and young men exposed to the popular antipsychotic drug.

The jury slapped Johnson & Johnson to pony up $2.5 million in compensatory damages to a young Alabama man blamed the company for promoting the “off label” use of Risperdal, which in turn resulted in gynecomastia.

Xarelto Wrongful Death Lawsuits Ramping Up

According to court documents and a review of the inventory of filed lawsuits against the makers of Xarelto, the litigation appears to be gathering steam and increasing in breadth and depth. In December 2014, the U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation (JPML) granted consolidated pretrial proceedings for all federal Xarelto cases filed against Bayer and Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen subsidiary over the new-generation blood thinner.

Xarelto Personal Injury Bleeding and Death Cases Over 220

The Xarelto personal injury and product liability claims are centralized before U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon in the Eastern District of Louisiana.Bayer and Johnson & Johnson is now exposed to at least 220 bleeding cases in the federal multi-district litigation (MDL), with more on the way.

J&J to Settle More Defective DePuy ASR Hip Lawsuits

DePuy ASR metal on metal hip replacements continue to fail prematurely and require painful and risky revision surgery. Johnson and Johnson, the world’s largest pharmaceutical and medical device maker and its subsidiary DePuy, recently agreed to extend the settlement of its notorious line of failed metal on metal hips, to include cases where the faulty hip was replaced as of January 2015.

This extension, provides further relieve to injured plaintiffs who were locked out of the original settlement, which cut off claims as of August 2013.

Total Number of Settlements Exceeds 9,400 Cases

DePuy ASR Hip Implant $2.5 M Oklahoma Verdict

In the most recent DePuy ASR defective metal hip trial, an Oklahoma woman has been awarded $2.5 million after suffering metal blood poisoning or metallosis from DePuy ASR hip replacements.

Andrea Smith, received ASR hip implants on each side in October 2006 and February 2007. Smith’s blamed DePuy in her lawsuit, claiming that she had to undergo revision surgery to have the implants removed in 2011 and 2012, after being diagnosed with high levels of Cobalt and Chromium metal ions in her blood.

J&J Hammered Over Risperdal Male Breast Injuries

Currently underway in the State Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia, there is a trial over the side effects of Risperdal, a popular antipsychotic medication. According to riveting court testimony, Johnson & Johnson (J&J), knew as early as 2001 that the medication caused boys to grow breasts.

This testimony was provided by David Kessler, the former head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, in the first case over the antipsychotic medication to be decided by a jury in state court in Philadelphia.

J&J, no stranger to governmental fines, has paid more than $2 billion to resolve a criminal probe over its drug Risperdal.

J&J Ethicon Mesh Injury Settlements

There are over 75,000 women who have filed personal injury claims against the various manufacturers of the transvaginal and bladder sling products. According to sources, Johnson & Johnson has settled at least four Ethicon transvaginal mesh lawsuits.

These are the first few settlements reached out of over twenty thousand personal injury cases filed against the Johnson & Johnson Ethicon subsidiary company.

These settlements were reached in state court claims, and included a one wrongful death claim that alleged the vaginal mesh caused a deadly infection.
